President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday called on members of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) to remain partners in nation-building as the religious organization celebrated its 112th anniversary.

In his message released by Malacañang, Marcos described the INC as “a steadfast guide to a community grounded in faith, discipline, and a shared sense of responsibility.”

The President noted the church’s growth from its beginnings in the Philippines into a religious institution with a global presence.

“From your humble beginnings, you have grown into a religious institution whose presence has reached communities across the globe,” he said.

Marcos said the INC’s continuing work reinforces the importance of faith and integrity in strengthening society.

“Your enduring work reminds us that a life rooted in devotion and integrity helps reinforce the moral foundation of society,” he said.

He also encouraged members of the church to continue translating their beliefs into service for others.

“As you gather in thanksgiving, may this milestone deepen your commitment to translating your beliefs into meaningful acts that uplift those in need, comfort the weary, and foster harmony wherever you serve,” Marcos said.

The President urged the INC to remain an active partner of government in nation-building.

“In this spirit, I encourage every member of the INC to remain a steadfast partner in nation-building, where faith is demonstrated through service and citizenship is expressed through genuine concern for others,” he said.

Marcos also assured the religious organization of the government’s support.

“Rest assured that the government stands in solidarity with organizations that strengthen families, promote peace, and expand compassion throughout our country,” he said.

The President’s message came as he prepared to deliver his penultimate SONA before a joint session of Congress on Monday afternoon.

The INC has figured prominently in national political discourse in recent months after holding several peace rallies across the country opposing efforts to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte and the arrest of Senator Rodante Marcoleta, drawing hundreds of thousands of participants, according to organizers and local authorities.
