The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday announced that the special election for the Lone Congressional District of Batanes will happen on Nov. 28.

In an interview, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said a budget of PHP10 million has been allocated for the polls, to be sourced from the Commission’s remaining savings, if any.

“We have likewise approved the Calendar of Activities; please expect the release of the schedule for the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs),” he added.

The special election will be conducted to elect the replacement of the late Batanes Rep. Ciriaco Gato Jr. who died on Sept. 21 due to cardiac arrest. (PNA)
