La Union’s Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and Provincial Health Office (PHO) are on full alert to ensure the safety of travelers and tourists during the Holy Week break.

Emergency teams will be stationed in key areas, including coastal zones and churches, to maintain safety and respond to emergencies.

“Our personnel will be deployed to key areas to ensure safety and security of visitors expected to flock to our province to enjoy the Holy Week break not only in popular tourist destinations but also in our churches,” Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David announced on Saturday.

The PDRRMO has already mobilized resources and finalized emergency plans under the Oplan Summer Vacation initiative.

Coordination with local municipal disaster offices has been made to implement necessary preparedness measures.

Two four-person teams will be deployed to strategic coastal locations, while the PHO will dispatch emergency response units, including an ambulance, three rescue pickups, two rubber boats, a jetski, and a service vehicle.

David reminded beachgoers to exercise caution when swimming and urged motorists to practice safe and responsible driving.

She also reminded residents and visitors to abide by the Anti-Disturbance Ordinance on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday to maintain the solemnity of the religious observance. Concerts, parties and similar events are peogibited on those days. (PNA)
