The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) distributed cash assistance to families impacted by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami) and Super Typhoon Pepito (Man-Yi) over the weekend.

In a statement from DSWD-5 on Monday, it said it disbursed PHP10 million through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) Program, benefiting 1,000 families in Garchitorena, Camarines Sur.

DSWD-Bicol Regional Director Norman Laurio said the beneficiaries from the municipality’s 24 barangays—including 10 coastal areas severely affected by storm surges—received cash aid during a two-day distribution held at the town’s covered court.

He emphasized that the agency is committed to providing services with extra love and care, especially during times of crisis.

Laurio said the financial assistance is designed to help families meet their basic needs, support the repair of damaged homes, and restore livelihoods. (PNA)
