Iloilo City Lone District Rep. Julienne Baronda said she chose not to engage in falsehood and will instead pray for truth and fairness to prevail.

The lady solon made the statement after her name was among those mentioned by a former Marine as recipients of suitcases filled with money from former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co.

In a statement on Wednesday, Baronda said her name was never mentioned in the inquiries conducted by the House of Representatives, the Senate, or by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure, which was created to investigate the anomalies in the implementation of government flood control and other infrastructure projects in the country.

“The only reason I can think of for my name being dragged into this latest political circus is my association with a local personality who was someone critical of the previous administration and who is helping me navigate local politics,” she said.

Baronda added that she trusts in the discernment and wisdom of the Ilonggo people to see matters clearly and make judgments based on truth. (PNA)
