Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro was proclaimed as the 1st District representative of Marikina City on Tuesday afternoon.
Based on the Notice to Candidates issued by the Office of the Election Officer in Marikina City, the City Board of Canvassers (CBOC) proclaimed Teodoro as the duly elected lawmaker of the city district in a ceremony at the Marikina Public Market Function Hall.
He topped the May 12 congressional elections with 75,062 votes against Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.
The CBOC consists of lawyers Dave Villarosa, Election Officer IV; Laurence Joel Taliping, City Prosecutor; and Dr. Alejandro Ibañez, School Divisions, Superintendent.
On May 12, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc lifted its May 12 order suspending the proclamation of Teodoro as congressman-elect.
The poll body said the petitioners in the electoral case against Teodoro failed to prove that he committed material misrepresentation in his certificate of candidacy regarding his residency. It also found no proof that he abandoned his home in the first district of Marikina.
On June 25, the poll body granted the consolidated motions for reconsideration filed by Teodoro and reversed the Dec. 11, 2024 resolution of its 1st Division, which ordered his certificate of candidacy canceled. (PNA)
